A basket can only hold so much.
So what do you WANT to hold?
If you want him to fill you, you will need to empty. An Easter basket 🧺 can only carry so many eggs.🥚
Your basket can only hold so much. So what do you want to carry today?
Will you carry eggs 🪺 that are hallow? They often look so big and great, it’s nearly like the bigger they get, the more impressive they look and the more hallow that they are inside.
Or do you want the small nuggets, those tiny eggs, filled with so much inside! They are filled to the brim, every ounce of space they take is with purpose. But they don’t look so impressive. They are unimpressive to the eye 👁️. They look like a dime a dozen. But mighty in flavour and abounding in filling.
I want to present to him an empty basket, and I want him to fill it with so many seemingly unimpressive and unimportant eggs. 🥚 But eggs that hold so much more. Little eggs of encouragement, little eggs of blessing, little eggs of love and patience and every good thing. All looking so small, like the smallest of words, the smallest of interactions, the smallest. Like the smallest son in Jesse’s house becoming the biggest man in all of Israel.
🇮🇱
I want that kind of small, that kind of over looked. When everyone around me reaches for that big glorious hollow egg, I want those tiny heavy weight champions. I want the kind of nugget that defeats a giant.
If there is ever a message in the bible, it’s how powerful God makes the smallest.
1 Kings 19: 11-12
11The LORD said, ‘Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.’ Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
Friend, let me also tell you a story about a little girl one Easter many years ago. As she was walking along beside the water 💧 her Easter 🐣 basket fell into the sea. 🌊 And I am sure she probably cried. I am sure she was upset.
Let me tell you that there was a man in a boat. And this man, picked up the floating basket and brought it back to her.
Maybe today, your in the place of having no basket, 🧺 maybe your in the place of wondering, how?
How can you carry anything, how can you give anything, how can you do anything?
The is a man who longs to give you the opportunity, there is a man who longs to give you possibilities, who has hope and a good future planned for you.
There is a man, who is not just a man. A redeemer who wants to redeem what you have lost, a saviour who wants to save what you dropped.
A restorer who wants to restore you.
Jesus, wants to give you the ability to carry on, the ability to carry again a basket of hope and possibilities, a basket that can bring all good things to those around you.
Let him restore your basket today.
And boy does he love to fill those empty baskets. You might just leave with more than you brought in.
John 6: 9-13
9‘Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?’ 10Jesus said, ‘Make the people sit down.’ There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. 12When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, ‘Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.’ 13So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
