As the coffee pours through the filter, the filter does nothing but simply allows it to pass; the filter if pure will add nothing to the flavour of the beans and also take nothing away. Simple flow. Up to down. From within to out.

The typewriter thinks not of the next word or sentence, it decides not the next paragraph. The typewriter is simply there, allowing its buttons to be pushed, allowing its ink to flow, allowing a mark to be left.

During my time working with coffee one day I was cleaning out the back, and I seen on a shelf high above me, a box.

‘100% pure filter’

And I knew that God was talking to me about what I needed to be. 100 percent pure filter, add nothing and take away nothing.

That is my prayer that I may be used to the full, that his outpour will always be HIS outpour.

Come my friend, let me wrap my arm around you.

Take a seat.

Working lights.

We’ve all been there.

Sitting, waiting, fingers drumming into the steering wheel. 🛞

Just waiting in line. Waiting at the red light of a works ahead traffic light.

Waiting for our opportunity to move and drive and go. But we are down to a single file.

You see, as I sat down today with tea on the table in a wee coffee shop, well I actually stopped. As I sat down, I actually sat.

Not trying to run ahead in my thoughts 💭 or to do list, but sat and stopped. 🛑

And I seen a bright red traffic light. 🚦 But this wasn’t your regular traffic light, no, this was a worker man’s traffic light.

Because sometimes when God tells us to stop, it’s because it’s someone else’s turn.

When we stop at the normal lights, it’s to allow someone else to take the lead.

But today, it’s actually about waiting; not to allow another to pass, but to allow work to be done.

Sometimes, God will say, yes you’re ready to go, but just wait.

Wait, because I have working going on.

Wait, because my work is taking up space.

Wait, because this road isn’t yet ready, even though you are.

And friend, he is digging, and drilling, he is filling and making something ‘new’.

Be patient while he works.

And don’t drive through the red light.

Isaiah 43 18-19

18‘Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
