God first gave David the title before a single content.
God will give you the smallest piece of the picture, enough to give you the idea, 💡 but may not reveal at that time the how.
David received the name, David received the title of his book, but he did not receive the contents nor the chapters nor the words.
You see God just gives what we need in that moment, he will give the smallest piece of requirement at the right time.
God never told David the battles, he never gave him the number of victories. He never gave the detail.
Just the deed.
Our God is the walking tour guide.
God will not just hand you the map and expect you to figure it out alone.
No, step by step he walks with you.
We visited Rome last year and had the most awful tour guide. You see he had a habit of leaving us behind. The Colosseum was the destination, we knew the name of where we were going. But the detail was unknown, the information was unknown. We wouldn’t know how many places we would stop at and we wouldn’t know how to navigate the streets. Ultimately, he left us behind on a few occasions.
But this is not your tour guide, no your guide he remains with you throughout the entirety of the walk. Your guide he knows all and he will not forsake you or leave you by yourself.
Your tour guide has given you the point of destination he has given you the title but now he will walk with you one step at a time, 🕰️ he will cross roads with you, he will walk paths with you, he will give detail when detail is required. He will give information when appropriate.
But first, let’s just start with this David.
David you will be king. 👑
David, I have the details, you just hold this.
1 Samuel 16:12&13
12So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, ‘Rise and anoint him; this is the one.’ 13So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.
Gods spirit comes to meet you, just like Samuel came to Jesse’s house. He has come in search of the one to anoint.
The holy one comes to anoint. He comes to give and impart.
Samuel was the prophet of the Lord and when he arrived at the house, Jesse knew what Samuel was doing.
Samuel you have come to anoint. The prophet of the Lord is about to anoint a new young man. And so Jesse gave his two cents in his human way.
Here, take this one, he is the best. 💭
No? Try this one, he is the next best, I think. 💭
Last one? He’s not who I would choose.
God might just surprise you, he may just surprise everyone around you. By giving you a title, without the contents.
He might give you the title of King, but not the information of the battles.
He might give you a promised land without the number of laps in the wilderness.
He might just give you a dream but not tell you the journey.
A beautiful title, a beautiful promise, a wonderful dream.
Dad, you left out the battles, the hardships and the work to get there.
It’s just enough to hold onto him for.
Daily walking. 🚶🏻
Day to day trusting.
“Here, take the baton!” He says to you.
It’s just enough to run with.
Trust that I know the track to get you to the finish line. 🏁
