Whether we are aware or not, we are all couriers, we all have in tow a van full of deliveries. 🚚 🚚
Multiple packages, all different shapes and sizes. Some small and some big, some heavy and some light.
Yes you have multiple things to pass onto other’s, words and lessons along with an assortment of gifts.
But it’s not always about what’s inside of the package. Sometimes the inside is damaged in transit.
A parcel in hand, an opportunity to give, an interaction.
But how did you deliver it?
Were you careful my friend, did you handle the fragile box delicately? Or did you toss it around and throw it at their door.
There are good messages, good words, good lessons. Delivered in a less than good way.
With pointing fingers and accusations.
With frustration and anger.
And the result will be an item that is marked, ‘Return to sender’.
Returned because how can it fully be received. How can the good wisdom and encouragement be accepted after arriving in such a bent out of shape and damaged box.
The delivery can ruin the contents.
How are you handling this fragile piece today?
Will you softly lay it into their hands. Will you be gentle with a parcel that enters hearts and minds.
Will they be in a better position for receiving your delivery today or will you leave them worse than you found them.
I have heard that to point a finger at someone else is to have three point back at you.
Let us be found father with open hands and open hearts. Let us deliver well and deliver good.
Let us deliver in a way that befits the parcel. Confidently, securely, patiently and gently.
Well received.
Side note 📝
I remember when I was a teenager a particular intimidating encounter in which a more assertive girl told me, quite aggressively to pick up my tray from the lunch room and put it away. Timid and flustered, I begrudgingly did what I was told.
She wasn’t wrong.
But her delivery was.
But even in that dented box, my God still pulled a goodness from within it. Bent and out of shape. But still in useable condition, like a dented tin of beans. 🫘
Colossians 4:6
Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
Father my prayer is that we would deliver well. That we would be reminded daily of the precious and beautiful gifts that we carry. Gifts that really aren’t for our holding, but for us to pass on.
I pray that we will remember who we carry.
Help us to be the appropriate transport for the most wonderful parcel.
Let us deliver all that we do, with grace, love, peace and joy. Riding on the wheels 🛞 of your Holy Spirit.
Amen.
