The ART of Losing Myself

As the coffee pours through the filter, the filter does nothing but simply allows it to pass; the filter if pure will add nothing to the flavour of the beans and also take nothing away. Simple flow. Up to down. From within to out.

The typewriter thinks not of the next word or sentence, it decides not the next paragraph. The typewriter is simply there, allowing its buttons to be pushed, allowing its ink to flow, allowing a mark to be left.

During my time working with coffee one day I was cleaning out the back, and I seen on a shelf high above me, a box.

‘100% pure filter’

And I knew that God was talking to me about what I needed to be. 100 percent pure filter, add nothing and take away nothing.

That is my prayer that I may be used to the full, that his outpour will always be HIS outpour.

Come my friend, let me wrap my arm around you.

Time turns it to tender

The duration of time. 🕰️

The length of time.

The depth of time that we find ourselves emerged in something.

Seconds turn into saturation.

And time turns us tender.

Soft and pliable.

Drenched through and through.

Run through the rain 🌧️ and you might still be dry. Stand in the rain long enough and you will get soaked.

Find yourself oozing in the sea and you will be swept over with its waves, drowning in its seas.

Genesis 32:26

26Then the man said, ‘Let me go, for it is daybreak.’ But Jacob replied, ‘I will not let you go unless you bless me.’

Permission to go, but determined to stay.

God wasn’t wrong in his logic, Jacob we have wrestled all night.

Child we have done this a long time. 🕰️

Daughter and son, you have held onto me long enough.

No.

Not until.

The determination to hold fast, even when you say it’s ok to step away.

Not while I know father you hold a goodness of something beautiful for me right here.

Not until you bless me through this.

Not until.

Not until I am sure that I am walking away with your blessing, not until I am sure that I have gleaned every ounce of your goodness from you.

Oh mighty universe maker, how incredible are you. That you would allow us to wrestle with you, that you would allow us to hold fast onto you through the dark night. You are gloriously wonderful.

Oh that we too could see the face of God and live.

Genesis 32:30

30So Jacob called the place Peniel,f saying, ‘It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.’

To walk away knowing that we walk never the same as before, we walk no longer by the strength of our capabilities.

In our weakness, you are perfect.

In our weakness we see you, our strength.

I’m desperate for the blessing, desperate for your blessing in this wrestle of life.

But I know that when the sun ☀️ rises on today, I walk now in you.

Genesis 32:31 & 32

31The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip.

32Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon.

I am determined and head set that you will find me tender from the duration of time spent with you.
